The Criminal Investigations Division conducts follow-up and long term investigative functions of criminal complaints.

This division works in an investigative capacity. By utilizing advanced tactics, techniques, and technology including digital forensics, to resolve complex and prolonged cases.  

The Criminal Investigations Division also conducts all background investigations for prospective Venice Police Officer candidates.

The Criminal Investigations Division can be subdivided into three sub-units, Detective Bureau, Special Investigations Unit, and the Criminalistics Unit.
