A City of Venice proclamation is an official declaration presented on behalf of City Council by the Mayor or his designee to an individual, group or organization, typically recognizing an initiative or observance.
To request a proclamation:
1. Please be sure your proclamation meets the following guidelines:
- Must have benefit to City of Venice, its residents or groups that support worthy and/or charitable causes such as hunger, education, housing, homelessness, the environment or similar issues.
- Must be non-partisan.
- Must be local to the City of Venice.
- May be presented to an individual or group. May be a religious organization, but proclamation must be clearly about the cause, not the religious organization.
- Must not be religious in nature or involve any religious values or traditions.
- Must not be in support of any group or cause that is discriminatory towards any group, organization or person based on race, religion, sexual orientation or political ideology.
2. If your request does meet the guidelines, please email your request to cityclerk@venicefl.gov well in advance of the event/presentation (at least two months is preferable).
3. Include your name, organization, phone number, the name of the individual who will be accepting the proclamation if presented, and where you are requesting the presentation -- a City Council meeting, at an event, or in the City Hall lobby.
4. Please note that a request does not guarantee a proclamation.
