Venice, FL
Home MenuWater Reclamation Facility Equalization Tank
Project Background:
All of the wastewater enters into the City’s Eastside Water Reclamation Facility (EWRF) via
two force mains, one that conveys flows from the City of Venice and one that conveys flows
from Sarasota County. Currently, the EWRF does not have flow equalization which results in
daily and seasonal variations in raw sewerage and pollutant loadings. The variations make
the operation and control of the treatment processes more difficult and potentially more
costly than treating a more constant flow and loading rates.
Project Benefits:
An equalization basin tank will allow staff to maintain a steady flow throughout the plant
resulting in a more precise control over the process. The tank also allows staff to mitigate
adverse impacts to sludge loads from leachate discharges and Sarasota County discharges of
septic shock loads to the bacteriological process.
Project Status:
Detailed design to commence 3rd Quarter of 2024.

- Upgrade and Maintain City Infrastructure and Facilities
- Provide Efficient, Responsive Government with High Quality Services
