Home MenuBay Indies Utilities Relocation
Project Background:
Bay Indies is a community that was developed in the early 1970s and contains over 1,300 homes. The aging infrastructure is located in the rear of the properties and will be abandoned
when the new system is in use. This project includes installation of new potable water mains, reclaimed water mains, sewer gravity and force mains, a sewer vacuum system, and new relocated water, sewer and reclaimed services to the properties.
Project Benefits:
Relocating the infrastructure from rear easements allows for proper maintenance and repair. The City is responding to higher than average service calls as a result of the aging and failing infrastructure. The new system highly reduces infiltration into the sewers, which is crucial for reducing constraints on the water reclamation facility. Seven sewer lift stations will be abandoned and replaced with a single vacuum lift station. The project construction will be phased to minimize residential and traffic disturbances. Installation of the new water mains will result in improved water quality, water pressure and fire protection. This project increases the level of service for the residents and will also pay dividends in the future in reduced maintenance calls and customer interruptions.
