9:30 AM 3/13 UPDATE: Service Club Park is now open, and the No Swim Advisory issued March 11 for beaches from Caspersen to the South Jetty has been lifted as a full tidal cycle has occurred since the deceased whale was removed from the area yesterday afternoon.
2 PM 3/12 UPDATE: The NO SWIM ADVISORY issued on 3/11 for beaches south of Venice Beach has been expanded due to a shift in wind and water direction. The NO SWIM ADVISORY is now in effect for the South Jetty, Venice Beach, Service Club Park and Caspersen beaches.
The Venice Fishing Pier remains open for fishing.
The City of Venice continues to coordinate with state partners to assess water conditions and safety.
7:30 AM 3/12 UPDATE: Service Club Park in Venice will remain closed today and the NO SWIM ADVISORY issued for beaches south of Venice Beach including Service Club Park, Caspersen, and the Venice Fishing Pier beach remains in effect.
This advisory is due to possible increased predation activity in the area as the whale necropsy continues.
The Venice Pier remains open for fishing.
