Team Keeping Venice Beautiful (KVB) partnered Thursday, Jan. 17 with both the City of Venice and Sarasota County staff to perform a major invasive species removal project at the Venice Pier parking area of Brohard Park. This project was a public-private partnership, with both the City and County devoting staff to assist the KVB team with cutting and removal of Brazilian pepper trees. KVB provided an impressive 27 volunteers to assist with this removal work and in only 4 hours, produced around 10 full truckloads of debris for removal. By removing these Brazilian peppers, it will allow the native Florida vegetation to thrive and will return this area to its natural state. The City would like to thank KVB and Sarasota County for their assistance with this successful project.
