UPDATE 9/24: Friday's OneBlood drive at VPD has been CANCELED due to expected inclement weather this week.
----------------------------------------------
The OneBlood Big Red Bus will be at the Venice Police Department, 1575 E. Venice Ave., for a “Go Gold” blood drive on Friday, Sept. 27, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Those who donate blood will also aid in helping pediatric cancer research. For every successful blood donation during Go Gold Day, a $10 donation will be made to the Benjamin “Benji” Gilkey Fund for Innovative Pediatric Cancer Research at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital, which creates new options for children at the highest risk.
OneBlood officials encourage all City employees and members of the public who feel well to come out and donate the “gift of life” to ensure that blood is available for those patients who need it. Note: It must be 56 days since your last whole blood donation. ID required please.
Additionally, all donors will receive a free $20 eGift Card, Go Gold Day T-shirt, a wellness checkup including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, iron count and cholesterol screening, and a snack.
Appointments are encouraged, but not required. To schedule an appointment to donate, please use this direct link: https://donor.oneblood.org/donor/schedules/drive_schedule/1493506
A note that the boy pictured on the below flyer, Benji, sadly lost his life due to having a rare form of cancer that was incurable. His mom, in his memory, created this foundation to support Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital cancer research. Read more about it here:
