Event: AAUW Home Tour, "Island Charm"

About: All five homes on the tour, originally built in the 1950s, are located on Venice Island, four of them on streets originally platted in the historic John Nolen city plan. Several vintage cars will also be parked on drives at one home. This collection of midcentury houses reflect the artistic personalities of their current owners. That includes one that has been restored and expanded in the purist modern style of that era by the best-selling mystery writer and his wife who winter there. Unique gifts by area artisans will also be available for sale at these homes, including jewelry, artwork, handmade purses and art scarves.
Cost: $35 in advance of the tour; $40 day of. Proceeds fund scholarships for area women pursuing college-level education.
