VHS Parade of Champions
The City of Venice and Venice High School have organized a “Parade of Champions” on Saturday, Feb. 3 to celebrate Venice’s 2017 FHSAA Class 7A Football State Champions, Girls Volleyball 2017 Class 8A State Champions, and 2017 Girls Class 3A Swimming State Champion-100 Butterfly.
The parade steps off at 1 p.m. Feb. 3 from Venice Elementary School and will travel downtown to Centennial Park, where a barbecue will be held for a donation.
Parade route will be Venice Elementary to Bahama to Miami, crossing Tamiami Trail, continuing on Miami, to Nokomis, to West Venice Ave. to Nassau, ending at Centennial Park.
The parade will feature players and coaches from both teams; the VHS Marching Band and cheerleaders; Corvettes and other classic cars; Old Betsy, the city’s 1926 firetruck; and Police and Fire Rescue vehicles.
Come on out that Saturday and support the accomplishments of these great teams, and show your Venice pride!
