More than 50 authors will sell and sign their books and speak with readers in Centennial Park from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday.
Almost half of these authors have books for children (or grandchildren) for sale. Examples include “Scuba Zak Meets Thaddeus the Barracuda” by Alice Cypress and “Upton the Dog Detective: Tip Top” by D.G. Stern.
Many of the books are of local interest. Les and Kimball Beery will be back with their “Angler’s Guide to Kayak Fishing in Southwest Florida.” Bob Fuqua will sell “Hunting Fossil Shark Teeth in Venice, Florida.” Well-known local author Kim Cool, a writer at the Venice Gondolier-Sun, will have a variety of her books, including the beautifully illustrated “Turtle Tales” and “Venice History.”
Several novels at the book fair are set in local areas. R.J. Coon’s latest book, “Missing,” takes place in Venice. Donn Fleming’s “Sarasota Sunrise,” Don Stratton’s “Wicar’s Legacy – A Hunter McCoy Mystery at the Ringling Museum of Art,” and Clarissa Thomasson’s historical fiction, “Surviving Sarasota” are set in Sarasota.
Farther up the coast in St. Petersburg is the setting for Shannon Esposito’s “For Pete’s Sake: A Pet Psychic Mystery.”
Other categories of available books are self-help, history, business and health. Check the event website here for a full list of participating authors.
