The City of Venice and Venice High School have once again organized a “Parade of Champions” on Wednesday, June 13 to celebrate Venice’s 2018 FHSAA 7A Baseball State Champions and Class 2A Wrestling State Champ in the 138-lb. weight class.
The parade steps off at 6 p.m. June 13 from Venice Elementary School and will follow the same route as the first Parade of Champions for the VHS football and volleyball teams in February. Parade vehicles and participants will stage at the elementary school shortly after 5 p.m.
The parade route is: VES to Bahama St., crossing Tamiami Trail at Miami Ave. and continuing down Miami, then turning onto Nokomis Ave. S., to West Venice. Ave., to Nassau St., ending in Centennial Park. A program at the Gazebo will be followed by a BBQ open to all. Hot dogs and ice cream are being provided by Serve Florida. The VHS baseball team will also be selling T-shirts.
The parade will feature players and coaches, the VHS ROTC Color Guard, VHS Marching Band, Corvettes and other classic cars, and Police and Fire Rescue vehicles.
