16th Annual Venice Shark's Tooth Fishing Tournament

Where: Marine Max of Venice, 1485 Tamiami Trail South, Venice (on the island)
Why: There are 40 Special Athletes who will join local boat captains for a day of fun and fishing. This event kicks off before the annual Shark's Tooth Festival which benefits Special Olympics. There are 25 local boat captains who donated their time and vessels to make this a very special and memorable event for the athletes.
When: Thursday, April 12
7:00 a.m. - Boat Captains Check-In
8:00 a.m. - Athletes Arrive
8:45 a.m. - Push Off at 8:45
12:45 p.m. – Lunch at Marine Max
On Saturday, April 14 at 2:00 p.m., during the Shark's Tooth Festival, the Venice Police Marine Unit and Police Chief Mattmuller will conduct the awards ceremony for all the athletes who participated in the fishing tourney. Each athlete receives a plaque for participating.
