The 9th Annual Bible Read-A-Thon at the Centennial Park Gazebo in downtown Venice will get underway Tuesday, April 3 at 7 p.m. with praise, worship and music, led by Venice Bible Church Pastors Scott Hill and Brett Brooks. All are invited. Bringing lawn chairs is recommended.
Mayor John Holic will issue a proclamation and be the first reader at 8 p.m. Readings will run around the clock until the entire King James Bible is read, from Genesis 1:1 to Revelation 22:21. The reading should be completed sometime after noon Saturday, April 7. Public restrooms will be available 24 hours.
Anyone who would like to read from the Bible at the lectern is invited to participate. Sign up for your preferred time (minimum 15-minute time slot) as soon as possible by calling Sandy Black at 941-882-2208. You can sign up for daytime or nighttime hours. Volunteers are also needed to monitor readers for 4-hour slots at the Gazebo; if you are interested, contact Sandy as well.
