The City of Venice So City of Venice blue garbage truck lid Waste and Recycling Division is responsible for providing curbside solid waste, yard waste and recycling collection within the city limits. In addition to curbside collection, the solid waste and recycling divisions provide specialized services such as bulk collections and roll-off container service. The City’s Solid Waste and Recycling divisions have the additional responsibility to oversee the City’s disaster debris management program.

The City has converted to residential automated garbage collection. The final phase was completed in February 2020.

On Dec. 1, 2018, a temporary recycling surcharge was added to the current collection fees for program recycling. This surcharge was due to an increase in the 3^rd party cost of hauling and processing recyclable materials and a worldwide loss in demand for resale of the recyclable materials. This rate will fluctuate based on the market cost of disposing of recyclable material and is listed separately on resident's utility account.
