Citizens Police Academy

2017 CPA Application

The Venice Police Department is pleased to begin accepting applications for the Fourth Annual Citizen Police Academy.  The Citizen Police Academy is an option given to interested individuals to help understand local law enforcement practices.  The Academy is a dynamic 10-week program held on Wednesday’s beginning in January 2017, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. with a graduation the final class.

The Academy is free of charge and encompasses hands on interactive scenarios allowing an insightful experience of a “day in the life of an officer.”  If you have ever wanted to fire a police issued weapon, monitor and use police radios, operate a police vessel, this is the opportunity. Are you curious about how a K-9 handler and their canine partner conduct building searches or drug “sniffs?”  You will be given the chance to participate in “mock” demonstrations. If you are curious about crime scene techniques and collecting evidence, there will be an interactive demonstration.

Please complete an application and return to DeeAnn Sayban at
There is a limited amount of attendee openings available.

Consideration will be given to those applicants who are City of Venice citizens or city business owners/operators.  All applicants must pass a background investigation.
