2016 Comprehensive Plan Update
The comprehensive plan is a planning document required of local governments by the state of Florida. It endeavors to project needs for the community over the next decade. It addresses elements such as traffic, housing, infrastructure, parks, land use and other vital functions affecting the growth and quality of life in Venice.
The updating process includes gathering information from residents and other interested parties. The Planning Commission and City Council will then review all elements and approve a final document to be submitted to the state. Everyone is invited to take part in the process, which begins Sept. 24.
Everyone is invited to participate in the comprehensive plan update process. There are multiple ways to provide input, including providing comments at any of the Planning Commission Meeting Dates, providing comments on the online Comments Form, and/or providing comments at any of the seven Neighborhood Meetings.
“Please visit our 'Online Calendar' to see agendas or minutes from past meetings. Agendas also list attachments of any documents presented to the Planning Commission (date specific). All documents are also available to the public for review at the Planning and Zoning Division office, 401 W. Venice Ave., Venice, FL 34285.
